Ken Huyser seconded the motion and the Board unanimously approved the new slate of officers. TREASURER’S REPORT Ken Huyser gave the Treasurer’s report and stated that based on current receipts and anticipated expenses, the Club should have a net operating gain for the year. He also stated that the Charter has been successfully reinstated and that the current year taxes would be filed at the end of our fiscal year, which is June 30, 2010. LEGISLATIVE LIAISON Secretary brought up the various requests the Club has received for a legislative liaison. There is currently no provision in the Club for that position. He stated that he was getting his panel of judges on board and the application would be going to AKC before the 3 month deadline. There was a discussion regarding the format of the test. John indicated that he would run the test the way he ran the Spring Hunt Test. Each category: Master, Senior, and Junior would be run consecutively with the same judges judging all 3 classes each day. He also said that the Training Day would be Sunday, September 19 at McKee-Beshers WALKING FIELD CHAIR Walking Field Trial Chair, Pat Dady, was on vacation and had reported earlier on the Spring event. There was a discussion regarding AKC’S allowing one additional Field Trial per year for a total of 4. The Club currently has no plan to add an event. AKC has also offered some flexibility with Field Trial running orders if the chairperson asks for that in the premium application. MEMBERSHIP CHAIR Membership Chair, Dennis Brekhus, reported a total of 85 members as of June 13, 2010. The incoming Membership Chair, Carolyn Felter, was asked to report new members’ areas of interest, i.e. Hunt Test, Field Trial, Show, etc. in the newsletter. This would give the various committee chairs an opportunity to contact them and invite them to participate in Club activities. RESCUE CHAIR Rescue Chair, Robert Loew, stated that he would no longer be able to perform as Committee Chair due to health issues. I’m sure you join me in thanking Bob for his many years of service, dating back to 1998. He has held many key positions in the Club and will remain a member of the Club. Membership benefits include a picnic and crab feast in the summer, events for your competitive four legged friends, plaques for the dogs as they complete a title, opportunities to meet and discuss your dog adventures with fellow enthusiasts, and support for the MDGSP Club’s parent organization, GSPCA. Please Volunteer. There are many younger and newer members, really excited about what we are doing and the events we are planning. Only by each of us committing our time and talents can these events be a success…….and build on our Club’s legacy….our reputation of being the largest and most active breed club in the Mid-Atlantic. Often, there are only a few members assisting our Event Chairs (sometimes none) in planning and putting on our events. Don’t “burn them out”…….it’s disheartening for these very committed people to work so hard…and not have Club members show up to help! Reach out to these committed Chairs and let them know how much we appreciate their efforts! Don’t know what you can do??? Call an event chair and ask!!......it’s only by each of us, individually doing our part that we can move forward and grow……
