The Mason Dixon German Shorthaired Pointer Club (MDGSPC) was founded in 1954 as an American Kennel Club sanctioned club. Its membership consists of GSP enthusiasts living in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, and Southern Pennsylvania.

The MDGSP Club was developed for the purpose of:

1.  Encouraging and promoting the breeding of better German Shorthaired Pointers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection

2.  Do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at breed shows, field trials, hunting tests, and obedience trials.

3.  Conduct matches and specialty shows, field trials, hunting tests, and obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

     Full Membership is open to all people eighteen (18) years of age or older and who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club and who subscribe to the purpose of the Club. Members are expected to attend club meetings and assist in club functions. 

     Two  regular membership meetings are held each year. In January a club dinner is held, a picnic is held each year in June. Each year several competitive AKC sanctioned events are held. The Club typically holds two AKC Hunt tests,Breed Shows,Horseback field trials and in the Spring a Walking Field Trial . Throughout the year various training clinics and non-AKC sanctioned "friendly" club events take place.
